Camping with Scouts

Back after spending the weekend camping with Boy Scouts up in the NC mountains. We spent Saturday whitewater rafting on the Nantahala river.  I had forgotten how much I missed being on the river and it also reminded me of a few facts while rafting.

  1. You can not overpower the river now no matter how much you try.
  2. It is best to make minor corrections and use the force of the river to move you along
  3. A raft works best if all paddlers work in unison and the power is balanced on both sides of the raft
  4. And last no matter how much you try – you are going to get wet sometimes.

Makes me think how much of this I can apply to life.

Wyndham Golf Tournament

I spent Thursday volunteering at Shotlink on the par 3 –  #7 hole, great weather until it heated up in the afternoon. Friday was working as a Walking Scorer. Tough day for the three players I kept score for – they all started out over par and never got below par for the day. But the leader for the day is Tommy “2 Gloves” Gainey. I kept score for him a few years back and he was a nice guy as opposed to some of the other players. Glad to see him in the lead
